We had to make a major change from living abroad where our daughter grew up and return to England. Academically and culturally this meant a major change for our daughter.
Hopelands is a wonderful caring school which has enabled our daughter to feel happy and very comfortable in a very short time.
Academically she has a lot to take in but she is thriving there and the stimulating lessons have encouraged her enormously, we already see how quickly she can progress in the nurturing environment offered at the school.

Hopelands school is a warm and caring school and offers excellant value for money.
My 10 year old son joined hopelands in year 4 after leaving another prepartory school in the area.
When he joined the school he was behind his other peers in most subjects but down to excellent teaching he has now caught up and in maths he now attends the extra maths group which has given him lots of conviedent
I would recommend this school to anyone.

I chose Hopelands school for my children because I wanted a small, relaxed environment for their primary years. The class sizes are small with 2 year groups in each class. This is excellently arranged and allows the brightest children to be pushed academically, whilst the less able are encouraged to reach their full potential. The school has an excellent reputation for entrance into the local grammar schools, which is a huge motivation for parents chosing this school.
The main advantage of such a small school is that children mix well within a range of year groups. The curriculum of the school is very traditional with children being regularly tested on times tables and spelling, many of the spellings brought home by my 10 year old most adults would struggle to spell without spellcheck. They are taught all the usual subjects including French, Geography, History and RE.
The school is housed in a converted Victorian House which provides adequate facilities however, compared to many of the local schools in both the independent and state sector the facilities are poor. There is building work planned which will vastly improve the existing structure and the school makes use of local sport facilities.
Extra curricular activities currently include a chess club, cookery club, art and craft and there are regular school trips including PGL for years 5 and 6.
